The ‘Empire Called’ website is a study of the WW1 volunteers of Essendon and Flemington and the community from which they departed. The website provides information about the institutions which prepared the local community for war - school cadets, 58 Infantry (Essendon Rifles), citizens' military association, patriotic organisations, the local Council and so on.
In 2015 I expanded my activities into a new website and blog for a broader view of the community.
Essendon is an inner suburb of metropolitan Melbourne and has been largely residential for most of its history. Flemington, further south, has a history of industrial and commercial activity as well as residential.
In 2015 I expanded my activities into a new Essendon ‘Time Travellers’ website and blog for a broader view of the community.
