Ledburn One-Place Study

Buckinghamshire

Ledburn

My family have lived in Ledburn for approximately 70 years and went to Mentmore over 100 years ago and lived there until moving to Ledburn. I lived up in both places during my childhood. 4 generations are buried in Mentmore church. I started looking at the 1901 and 1911 census for Mentmore for my great grandparents and got interested in Ledburn which is a tiny hamlet and Rowden which is a handful of houses.

The history for this area goes back centuries, is mentioned in the Doomsday book and was part of the Roseberry estate until 1970's. So there is a wealth of history which I am only just uncovering.
