Yateley

The Yateley Society is a registered charity affiliated to Civic Voice. The Local History Group has been active since 1981. In the '80s the Society sponsored the Yateley History Project a WEA tutorial course which led to the collation, and transcription of over 200 pre-1700 wills and inventories, as well as several publications.

In 1991 the Society decided to start a digital archive, initially on 4 floppy discs, it grew to a CD-ROM by 1995, went online in 2004, became a wiki site in 2007, and is now 500Gb on an HDD. All our physical archives are being systematically deposited at Hampshire Record Office.
