Aldeburgh One-Place Study

My family originated from Aldeburgh and my great-grandfather lived there until shortly before his death in 1936. One of his sons died in the Aldeburgh Lifeboat Disaster of 1899.

I have visited Aldeburgh many times over the years and now wish to delve deeper into its past and to help others researching ancestors who once lived in this historic town.

As well as creating a website to publish information such as parish registers and census returns, I have also started a facebook group called ‘Aldeburgh Past’ to provide a forum for the exchange of information. I shall also ‘tweet’ as progress is made.

One of my first priorities is to publish information about the lifeboat disaster that I obtained on my first visit to Aldeburgh back in 1986.
