BEDDGELERT, or Gelert’s grave, so called from the well known legend of Prince Llewelyn and the Greyhound, is 13 miles from CARNARVON, and 7 from Tre-Madoc. In the neighbourhood are several copper mines worked, which give employment to a great portion of the inhabitants. The church living is a perpetual curacy, in the incumbency of the Rev. Richard Pughe: the Calvinists have also a chapel here. Sir Robert Williams, Bart. holds a court leet in this village, for his manor of Manthmynant. Fairs are held on the I8th of August and 24th of September. The population of the entire parish, in 1821, was 615.
