{"id":210,"date":"2016-12-10T10:44:23","date_gmt":"2016-12-10T10:44:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.oneplacestudy.org\/beddgelert\/?page_id=210"},"modified":"2018-05-01T00:40:11","modified_gmt":"2018-05-01T00:40:11","slug":"cyssegr-independent-chapel","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/oneplacestudy.org\/beddgelert\/churches-chapels\/cyssegr-independent-chapel","title":{"rendered":"Cyssegr Independent Chapel"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Cyssegr Independent Chapel<\/strong> in <strong>Beddgelert<\/strong> was built in 1853 and rebuilt in 1903.<\/p>\n<p>The building is no longer used as a chapel.<\/p>\n<p>It is now known as <strong>Canolfan Hebog<\/strong> and is used by the community in a variety of ways:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Tourist Information Centre<\/li>\n<li>IT Room<\/li>\n<li>Police Post<\/li>\n<li>Warden&#8217;s Office<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A large mural inside shows how the chapel looked when used for worship.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h4>1903: Beddgelert: New Chapel<\/h4>\n<blockquote><p>The new Congregational chapel built by the South Carnarvon Congregational Union in Beddgelert was formally opened on Wednesday. The cost has been \u00a3800, towards which subscriptions amounting to over \u00a3150 have been received, whilst the Welsh Congregational Loan Fund and the South Carnarvon Loan Fund have lent \u00a3250 and \u00a3150 respectively, free of interest. The site of the chapel was given free of charge by Mr. Banner, of the Goat Estate. Dr Jones Morris presided at the opening public meeting, when addresses were delivered by the Rev David Jones, Capel Helig, the oldest minister of the connexion in South Carnarvonshire; the Rev Rheidol Roberts, chairman of the South Carnarvon Congregational Association; the Revs H. Davies, Abererch; Eiddig Jones, Chwilog; and T. Williams, Capel Helig. Preaching meetings were afterwards held.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><em>Carnarvon and Denbigh Herald, Friday 10 April 1903<\/em><\/p>\n<a class=\"synved-social-button synved-social-button-share
