It was built shortly after the Ordnance Survey surveyed the area in 1858 for their latest map.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 1862, <strong><span style=\"color: #008000;\">George Teasdale<\/span><\/strong>, innkeeper of the nearby <strong>Beehive Inn<\/strong> at Old Hutton for thirteen years, was granted a licence to sell spirits at the <strong>Oxenholme Station Inn<\/strong>. George died just under four years later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>George\u2019s widow, <strong><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Isabella Teasdale (ne\u00e9 Mackereth)<\/span><\/strong>, was innkeeper at the <strong>Oxenholme Inn<\/strong> in 1871. Before her death in January 1876, Isabella\u2019s son, <strong><span style=\"color: #008000;\">George Teasdale<\/span><\/strong>, had taken over as innkeeper and he was still in charge in 1881.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By 1891, the publican was <strong><span style=\"color: #008000;\">James Freeman<\/span><\/strong>. At the time of the census, <strong><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Thomas Mackereth Teasdale<\/span><\/strong> (brother of the former publican) was a visitor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to <strong>Frances Cross<\/strong>, her great-grandfather <strong><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Tommy (Thomas Kendal) Cross<\/span><\/strong> owned the Oxenholme Inn in the late 1800s. He apparently lost it in a card game and eventually emigrated to the United States with his wife and several children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By 1894,<strong><span style=\"color: #008000;\"> Thomas Askew<\/span><\/strong>, a coal dealer, was publican.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By 1901, <strong><span style=\"color: #008000;\">William Harrison Thornburrow<\/span><\/strong>, a butcher by trade, was the Public House Keeper. He emigrated to Canada in 1907.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By 1906, <strong><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Francis Edwin Baker<\/span><\/strong> was inn keeper and farmer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Around 1928, <strong><span style=\"color: #008000;\">John Cannon Dixon<\/span><\/strong> , Natland&#8217;s blacksmith, became landlord.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>John\u2019s son <strong><span style=\"color: #008000;\">George Whitehead Dixon<\/span><\/strong> was landlord until his death in 1958.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From 1960 until 1991, the licencees were <strong><span style=\"color: #008000;\">John Ormerod<\/span><\/strong> and his wife <strong><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Joyce Ormerod <\/span><\/strong><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">(ne<\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00e9<\/span> Dixon).
