{"id":281,"date":"2015-10-21T16:39:42","date_gmt":"2015-10-21T15:39:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/oxenholme.oneplacestudy.org\/?page_id=281"},"modified":"2022-11-09T20:10:06","modified_gmt":"2022-11-09T20:10:06","slug":"ellison-family","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/oneplacestudy.org\/oxenholme\/ellison-family\/","title":{"rendered":"Ellison Family"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong><a href=\"#Bottom\" rel=\"nofollow\">Main menu<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Richardson (&#8216;Richard&#8217;) Ellison (1851-1917)<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>born 1851 at Lazonby, Cumberland<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>son of <strong><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Thomas Ellison<\/span> <\/strong>and <strong><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Ann Ellison nee ?<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>baptised 7 Dec 1851 at St. Andrew, Penrith, Cumberland<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>lived at Plumpton Wall, Cumberland with paternal grandparents in 1861<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>lodging at 7 Station Cottages, Tebay (a Lodging House) in 1871 aged 17 &#8211; loco cleaner &#8211; lodging with him was fellow loco cleaner John Thornburrow who also became a driver and moved to Helmside<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>married <strong><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Hannah Robinson (c1852\u20131924)<\/span><\/strong> in 1876 in Sedbergh district<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>lived at Alice House, Applethwaite<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>lived at <a href=\"http:\/\/oxenholme.oneplacestudy.org\/?page_id=1320\"><strong>15 Helmside<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>wife Hannah was present at the <a href=\"http:\/\/oxenholme.oneplacestudy.org\/?p=797\">Railway Mission third anniversary celebrations<\/a> in 1909<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>railway engine driver<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>died 14 June 1917 aged 66<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>buried at St. Mark&#8217;s Church, Natland<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>gravestone inscribed &#8220;In loving memory of Richard Ellison who died June 14th 1917 aged 66. Also of Hannah his wife who died Sept 7th 1924 aged 72. In God&#8217;s keeping.&#8221;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>probate Carlisle 27 July 1917 to Hannah Ellison widow<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>effects \u00a31,152 7s 2d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>wife Hannah later lived at 10 Appleby Road, Kendal and died 7 September 1924 aged 72 at 31 Romney Road, Kendal and is buried at St. Mark&#8217;s Church, Natland<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>probate 7 October 1924 to son Edmund Robinson Ellison draper&#8217;s buyer<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>effects \u00a31,198 10s 11d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Richardson and Hannah had five children, two of whom (names as yet unknown) died before 1911:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Agnes Wilson Ellison (1878\u20131937)<\/span><\/strong> &#8211; married <strong><span style=\"color: #008000;\">John Pinch (1874\u20131943)<\/span><\/strong> in 1900<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Edmund Robinson Ellison (1880\u20131937)<\/span><\/strong> &#8211; draper&#8217;s buyer &#8211; married <strong><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Annabella Smith (1881\u20131927)<\/span><\/strong> &#8211; had son <strong><span style=\"color: #008000;\">John Richardson Ellison (1908\u2013?)<\/span> <\/strong>and another child who died in infancy<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Sarah Isabel Ellison (1881\u20131944)<\/span><\/strong> &#8211; married <strong><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Thomas Leather (1868\u20131948)<\/span><\/strong> &#8211; had one daughter <strong><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Cicely Leather (1908\u20131992)<\/span><\/strong> who married <strong><span style=\"color: #008000;\">John Francis Johnson (?\u2013?)<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><i>Can you add any information to this page?
